5 Ways to Celebrate International Community Association Managers Day

International Community Association Managers Day is on June 13th–and it is the time to celebrate the hard-working professionals who play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of life within community associations, often working behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The Impact of Community Association Managers

Community association managers are the unsung heroes of residential communities like HOAs, COAs, Co-Ops, and more. They juggle many responsibilities that range from budgeting and governing document execution to conflict resolution and community building.

The significance of their work is reflected in the 2022 biennial Homeowner Satisfaction Survey by the Foundation for Community Association Research*:

How to Celebrate Community Association Managers

Recognizing the efforts and expertise of community association managers can be both meaningful and motivating for them. Here are some ways boards and communities can celebrate their managers on this special day.

1. Public Acknowledgment

  • Post on social media to highlight the holiday and spotlight your managers with photos and success stories. Download customizable templates and use the hashtag #IntlCAMDay.
  • Write a newsletter feature dedicated to the achievements of your managers for your community to read.

2. Gifts and Awards

  • Send a gift card for a local restaurant or a thoughtful gift basket of their favorite snacks and drinks.
  • Present a certificate of appreciation or an award to acknowledge specific accomplishments and milestones.

3. Events

  • Organize a brunch in their honor and invite members of the community to celebrate together.
  • Host an office celebration with treats and decorations, that includes a few words from leadership and colleagues.

4. Professional Development Opportunities

  • Offer training opportunities to further their career development, such as courses, workshops, or certifications.
  • Send them to an industry conference to network with peers and further their education in community management best practices.

5. Thank You Notes

  • Encourage handwritten notes from community members to express their gratitude and appreciation.
  • Create a digital card in your community social feeds—like Enumerate Engage—where residents can easily communicate, and post thank you messages.

The Community Associations Institute (CAI) helped establish International Community Association Managers Day on June 13th to draw attention to the pivotal work community managers do to ensure their neighborhood operations are running smoothly and that residents feel safe and happy to live there. Enumerate shares the effort in recognizing over 55,000 community association managers in the US and thousands more worldwide.
